MORE THAN A PLACE

WellStrong was founded as a non-profit in 2017 by Amy Doherty to provide fitness and wellness activities in a safe, supportive, and sober environment for people in recovery from substance use disorder. For nearly a decade, WellStrong provided a space where individuals in recovery could find strength, connection, and support through community, fitness, and wellness. We are deeply grateful to the staff, volunteers, members, and supporters who made this work possible.

In February 2026, after careful consideration, the WellStrong Board of Directors made the difficult decision to close WellStrong, due to a leadership change and financial challenges that made it unsustainable to continue operations.

WellStrong was never just a place—it was people. It was the encouragement shared, the relationships built, and the hope that was offered to those who needed it most.

As we close our doors, we recognize the impact this community has had on so many lives. While the organization is no longer operating, we hope the connections, compassion, and commitment to recovery continue in the lives of those it touched.

WellStrong began as a vision to create a supportive space for recovery—and that spirit lives on in the community it built.

Thank you for being part of the WellStrong community.
